U1082 Today was our highest mileage day. We think we did 28 miles. In order to accomplish this amazing feat jenny insisted we get up an hour early. That's 5am. I didn't really mind because I've been going to bed at 8:30 so I was still going to get more sleep than I needed. It was the poor saps Camped around us who thought they were on vacation who I felt sorry for. During the paddle today we went past a corn field. You will all be shocked by this, I'm sure, but I pulled over and helped myself to a few cobs. We built a fire and I grilled them for dinner. Another occurrence of note is that we pulled over in the small town of palisade. We found a convenience store and ate lunch and had some ice cream. We had to eat the ice cream first because it was melting. That is a bad example for Aubrey but you gotta do what you gotta do. These pics are of the initial mosquito assault when we arrived in camp and my corn grilling.
Dave did you leave a buck for the corn? I am sure you did. Hope you enjoyed it, what a treat after a 28 mile day. Sorry about mosquitoes, Steve and I had a few with our dinner over our campfire. One more week, on Sunday I will be picking you all up.. Pat
ReplyDeleteWe all had lunch today at Mom's....Aubrey had coucous, arugula salad, and baked slices of corinader sweet potato. The Williams side of the family is doing good. It was 111 today in San Antonio.....somehow we woke up in Arizona...do not take a chicken..or a cow, David......
ReplyDelete111 HOT HOT HOT! I would take Jenny's place over this boiling State! I love the hats! I'm now in the mood for some Dairy Queen and Bourbon. Keep up the good work and blogging!
