We passed a couple harvesting wild rice this morning. We stopped and talked to them. This is the way it works : The person in back poles the boat forward through the rice grass. The person in the front wacks the rice grains into the boat with 2 sticks. The individual grains look like spear grass. The process also collects spiders and other unsavory bugs. Mrs Sippy is not interested in participating in the harvest.
